Essay

The relevance of our thesis is determined by the urgent need of reinterpretation of realistic works of the XIX century taking into account the latest technologies of reading literary texts and a systematic approach to the study of the spatio-temporal continuum of Panas Myrnyi's novels "Do the oxen low when the manger is full?" and "The Prostitute". The writer's novels are a unique phenomenon in Ukrainian fiction. Even today, they continue to attract the reader's attention with deep psychologism of characters, artistic perfection of the author's writing, broad philosophical and aesthetic generalizations that deepen the author's perception of man in the natural and cultural planes. It is worth pointing out the peculiar individual and authorial historicism in the works of the writer, who managed to combine a deep understanding of the peculiarities of real time with the desire for high aesthetic ideals in the novels. From this point of view, the research of Panas Myrnyi’s novels, which we have started, may have some significance both in the plane of a more detailed study of the creative heritage of one of the leading Ukrainian writers of the XIX century and in the plane of further methodological development of the problem of typological varieties of artistic space and time in literature and art. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the identification and analysis of artistic space and time features in the novels of Panas Myrnyi, the main trends in the evolution of these dimensions of the artistic plane of the novels. For the first time, we have conducted a systematic analysis of the spatio-temporal continuum of Panas Mirnyi's novels "Do the oxen low when the manger is full?" and "The Prostitute" in large format scientific work. The traditional, stable for the artistical universum novels of Panas Myrnyi chronotope have been analyzed, considering the latest technologies of reinterpretation, and reading of literary texts.
