The dissertation is devoted to the research of topical issues of investigation of fraud committed under the pretext of preaching doctrines and performing religious rites. The state of scientific research related to the formation of methods for investigating various types of fraud and its structural elements is highlighted and analyzed. The theoretical preconditions for the formation of a forensic characterization of fraud committed under the pretext of preaching doctrines and performing religious rites have been clarified. It is proposed to include the following elements in the typical model of forensic characterization of fraud committed under the pretext of preaching doctrines and performing religious rites: information about the specific features and characteristics of the offender and his chosen illegal course of action; information on the characteristics of the victim and the characteristics of the subject of criminal encroachment; information on the circumstances of the crime and the means and tools used; trace pattern of fraud. Forensically significant signs and properties of fraudsters operating under the pretext of preaching doctrines and performing religious rites have been established and their typology has been developed taking into account socio-demographic, socio-role, intellectual, psychophysiological information, as well as individual features of appearance.
