Essay

The dissertation scientifically substantiates the theoretical aspects and experience in training teachers to provide educational services to elderly people in Australia and identifies ways of how to creatively use it in Ukraine. In particular, the key concepts for the research are covered: age, age periodization, third age; the basic principles of aging are generalized and the main types of aging are defined (active aging, healthy aging, successful aging). The main factors (economic; behavioral; social; personal; material conditions; social ones) and factors (work, study, emotional comfort, annual income, etc.) of active aging are summarized. Main psychological theories used for the education of the elderly (cognitivism; activity approach to learning; constructivism; behaviorism) and motivating factors for learning in the third age (a sense of independence and self-confidence, which reduces growing challenges; public and private resources, overcoming practical and psychological problems in the modern world, strengthening the real and potential contribution to the development of modern society, increasing self-esteem and self-expression, interaction with other people with similar interests, etc.) are analyzed. It is established that the education of the elderly is in the focus of gerontology and andragogy; the essence, content and principles of the relevant disciplines are revealed. The features of the formation of the education system for adults and universities of the third age are generalized.
