The dissertation is devoted to the research of Ukrainian comics in the library and information environment. The study is based on the discovery of the peculiarities of the development of comic culture in Ukraine from the standpoint of bibliography and library science.
The scientific novelty of the study is to highlight the stages of development of Ukrainian comics against the background of the general evolution of comics as an information product; in highlighting the current state of development of comics in Ukraine, their genre and species diversity; in substantiation of the concept of immersive comics and prospects of such information products in Ukraine; in generalizing the domestic and foreign experience of the library service organized around comics as information products, and outlining the prospects of its development in Ukraine.
It was found that the specificity of comics as an information product, the semantic content of which is expressed through verbal-iconic tools - images and verbalized text - determines its syncretic nature and explains the attention to comics by literary critics and linguists, art critics and culturologists. In addition, comics can be attributed to both periodicals and books, which makes it the subject of research in the dimension of journalism and publishing. At the same time, being a multifunctional and unique information product, comics has not yet become a subject of study for bibliologists and librarians. There are no studies of comics from the standpoint of information, library and archival affairs, which proves the relevance of the chosen topic of the dissertation.
From the standpoint of library science and bibliography, the difference between the concepts of "Ukrainian comics" and "comics in Ukraine" is substantiated, taking into account the criteria of Ukrainian, the concept of Ukrainian comics is is a translation of foreign works), Ukrainian authorship and about Ukraine.
The stages of development of Ukrainian comics are determined and characterized.
The genre-types of diversification of comics in Ukraine are revealed, the existence of such types of comics as: adventure-historical is substantiated; superhero; fantasy, science fiction; comics for children; humorous; modern novel; criminal; educational.
It is proved that the spread of Internet technologies and, in particular, augmented reality technologies and their introduction into comic production has led to the transformation of this type of information product and the emergence of innovative formats of these publications - web comics and immersive comics, which are nonlinear and immersive. In immersive comics, in addition to the traditional verbal and graphic components, there is an additional - immersive technology, without which the correct perception of the text is impossible. The production of immersive comics requires the cooperation of writers, illustrators, authors and publishers with producers of software content, which determines its design format. At the same time, the growing number of such projects and the willingness of the community and leading content companies to invest in them testifies to the prospects of this type of product and its secure future.
It was found that the main components of the complex library service formed around comics in the institutions of Ukraine are: the organization of educational activities dedicated to comics; informing about the arrival of comics in the library; organization of comic book exhibitions; compilation of recommendation lists and preparation of bibliographic indexes; presentation of individual publications and organization of meetings with comic book authors and publishers; conducting workshops and master classes, organizing competitions. It has been proved that, being the subject of librarians' activities, comics also serve them as an effective tool for solving educational, social and narrow professional tasks of popularizing the library profession and library business.
Perspective directions of improvement of the domestic library service formed around comics are substantiated, among which: creation of special collections of comics; participation in projects for the creation of comics using images contained in documents from library collections; Considering that comics are a part of the historical and cultural heritage of Ukraine, the formation of chapters on comics in the electronic libraries "Ukraine" and "Culture of Ukraine", which would help solve problems not only providing wide access to comics published in libraries, but also the promotion of domestic comic heritage abroad; creation of a corporate library database of comics and graphic novels.
