It is determined that since agricultural institutions of higher education train specialists in professions, the vast majority of which are classified as a type of interaction "man-nature" and "man-technology", the performance of professional duties by these specialists has its own specificity in terms of motor activity, type and intensity of physical overload, rehabilitation, etc. Based on the analysis of the development of the problem under study in
pedagogy and psychology the main directions of students' motivation to physical education have been defined: awareness-raising activities on healthy lifestyle, demonstration of attractiveness of physical activity, harmonization of physical and health activity with personal goals of future specialists, offering differentiated tasks within the curriculum, purposeful support of students' active physical activity, formation of a positive attitude towards physical activity, expansion of the scope of students' physical activity through active involvement in sports clubs, inculcation of interest in sports activities, encouragement to participate in competitions in favourite sports, awakening the need for independent physical activity and sports in students. The key research concept "students' motivation for physical education" is clarified, which is understood as a purposeful activity to influence the motivational sphere of students in the value, needs and target aspects in order to stimulate their engagement in physical education and sport. The essence and structure of students' motivation for physical education was revealed. The criteria, indicators and levels of students' motivation for physical education are specified. For the first time pedagogical conditions that will promote the formation of students' motivation for physical education in the educational process of agricultural institutions of higher education have been identified. A flowchart of the process of students' motivation formation for physical education in the educational process of agrarian institutions of higher education, which provides a phased impact on the motivational sphere of prospective professionals has been developed. The ideas of improving the methods of teaching physical education in agrarian institutions of higher education have been further developed. Applied complex of physical exercises, created taking into account the specialty of the prospective specialist and related types of physical activity has been
developed and implemented in the process of physical education of students of agrarian institutions of higher education. In order to intensively influence the motivational sphere of the students, appropriate pedagogical conditions have been identified, and the personal needs, interests, aspirations and experiences of future employees of the agricultural sector have been taken into account.
