The dissertation is a theoretical and experimental study of the issue of professional and communicative competence formation of intended construction and civil engineering specialists while studying the humanities. Based on the competency-based approach, the occupational characteristics of the construction and engineering industry employees, the features of professional communication of construction and civil engineering specialists (civil engineer, project manager), the professional functions of the intended construction and civil engineering specialists have been identified as engineering and manufacturing, research, development, design and engineering, organizational and managerial and the essence of the concept of "professional and communicative competence of intended specialists in construction and civil engineering" has been defined as a personal integrative characteristic that combines professional knowledge, communication skills, business communication skills and professionally important qualities, which together provide the ability of a specialist to effectively carry out professional communication and interact with the subjects of the production process when performing works (design, construction, installation, etc.) associated with the facilities construction and commissioning.
