Essay

This dissertation presents results of a comprehensive study of the system of professional training of future information technology managers in the U.S. universities. The conceptual idea of the study is based on the statement that since information technology management finds itself at the crossroads of two fundamental fields – management and information technology, professional training of information technology managers should be multidisciplinary and cover both fields to enable students to acquire a unique set of integrated knowledge and skills relevant to the spheres of IT and business. The study has established that professional training of information technology managers requires optimal organizational, pedagogical and psychological environment that enables a well-balanced combination of these fields in university curricula. Being an international leader in the fields of IT and management, the United States of America can offer time-tested practices worth exploring and implementing in the national system of professional training. Substantiated theoretical background of the research incorporates the scientific works and ideas focused on theoretical aspects of professional training of future information technology managers in higher educational institutions, organizational, methodological and didactic specifics of future information technology managers’ training, psychological and pedagogical environment of professional training as well as foreign comparative studies in the field of professional training.
