Essay

Units of the Ukrainian National Guard are armed with armored personnel carriers: BTR-60 and APC-70. These armored personnel carriers were developed and adopted in 1960 and 1970, respectively. The specified samples of military equipment were developed taking into account the requirements for combined military combat as part of motorized rifle units. The main purposes of these vehicles aree transportation of personnel to the battlefield and fire support. The mentioned armored personnel carriers have relatively low levels of fuel efficiency and the smoothness. These shortcomings can be solved by developing new designs of armored personnel carriers on the basis of modern car units that are mass-produced in Ukraine and abroad, using modern technical solutions in layout schemes - power unit-transmission. Shortcomings can be eliminated during conversion and modernization of armored personnel carriers. The “engine-transmission” system mainly affects the traction-speed properties, fuel efficiency and environmental safety of vehicles. The fuel efficiency of the car directly depends on the operating conditions and the speed of its movement. It provides an estimate of the of car use efficiency, since it directly determines the energy costs of the transport process. Optimizing the parameters of the "engine-transmission" system of the vehicles involves the search for solutions that allow matching the output parameters of the engine and the gear ratios of the transmission, so that when a vehicle is equipped with different types of engines and different transmissions, the indicators of the traction properties of a vehicle, the dynamics of its acceleration, and to some extent the technical speed and fuel efficiency were close to each other and were within certain permissible limits. To do this, it is necessary to develop a reliable method of determining the number of gear ratios of car's transmission, which would take into account the replacement of two gasoline engines with diesel equivalents, which is provided for by the modernization of the BTR-70 vehicle. The purpose of the work is to choose the type and composition of the power plant and the gear ratios of the transmission, which provide the best indicators of traction and speed properties and fuel efficiency during the modernization of BTR-70. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the solution of an important scientific and practical task of increasing the indicators of traction and speed properties and fuel economy during the modernization of the BTR-70: for the first time, qualitative and quantitative estimates of the degree of influence of the type and composition of the power plant, in particular, in the composition of two engines of different power, and the gear ratios of the transmission on the indicators of traction and speed properties and fuel efficiency during the modernization of BTR-70 vehicles were obtained; the method of selecting the transmission ratios of the BTR-70 car transmission when installing two engines of different power has been improved; received further development of the issue of comparative evaluation of indicators of traction-speed properties and fuel economy of BTR-70 cars with different power plants according to relative indicators, which are the ratio of the indicator of a car with a specific power plant to the indicator of the standard, which was chosen as a conditional car with better indicators with of all indicators of the considered cars. Keywords: Armored personnel carrier, fuel efficiency, modernization, military equipment, power unit-transmission, engine, testing, traction and speed properties, environmental safety.
