The thesis addresses the problem of cultivating a competence in intellectual property rights protection in graduates of pedagogical institutions of higher education. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the paper determines the degree to which this competence cultivation in graduates from pedagogical institutions of higher education has been explored as a problem. This suggests a conclusion about the insufficiency of scientific developments on this topic and proves that a comprehensive study of this topic has not been conducted yet. The work also defines the content of the concept of "competence in intellectual property rights protection for a graduate of a pedagogical higher education institution". The research designs, substantiates and tests the pedagogical IHE graduate’s competence model as a component of their integral competence. An important constituent of the research is substantiated need to cultivate this competence through theoretically substantiation, design and implementation in the academic process of a technology that enables cultivation of the competence in intellectual property rights protection. This relies on the competence-based model of a graduate of a pedagogical institution of higher education in intellectual property rights protection. The paper offers a design of a technology to be used to cultivate the competence in intellectual property rights protection in graduates of pedagogical IHEs. This technology is implemented in the following stages: diagnostic, motivation-target, content, process-activity, control-evaluation. The paper describes the content and essence of each stage of the designed technology and identifies the characteristic features of each of them. The effectiveness of the proposed technology was proven during a pedagogical experiment detailed in the research paper. The pilot testing of the proposed technology proved its effectiveness. The means of mathematical statistics substantiate the probability of the results of the pilot. The factors and criteria proposed in the model are based on the relevant socio-pedagogical system through the lens of the competence structure in question. The paper describes the criteria and indicators used to determine the level of the competence in intellectual property rights protection cultivated in the graduates of pedagogical IHEs.
