Essay

The dissertation "The organization of educational and upbringing process with migrant children in the USA" reveals organisational and pedagogical principles of providing educational services to migrant children in the United States, identifies the peculiarities of preparing a multicultural teacher to work with migrant children, and substantiates the feasibility and possibilities of creative use of the US experience in the educational space of Ukraine. The dissertation examines in detail the concept of migration, which is a complex and multifaceted process with clearly defined ethno-social and ethno-politic determinants, and analyses the main factors of migration (economic, political, social, ethnic, pedagogical, psychological, etc.) and its most common types (permanent, seasonal, organised, unorganised, voluntary, forced, labour, educational, etc.). The results of the analysis of domestic and foreign literature have shown that due to migration processes, migrant children face a set of problems. These problems are characterised by certain peculiarities and require in-depth study and urgent solution. The most important among them are: psychological stresses associated with the forced change of place of residence and disruption of the structure of habitual cultural, communicative, family, natural and territorial and other ties; identity crisis, inconsistency in the system of values and social norms; general dissatisfaction with various aspects of life and with oneself; difficulties in adapting to the requirements of secondary, secondary special or higher education; difficulties in adapting to a new environment of communication, and, as a result, often the emergence of a feeling of alienation. Significant positive experience of working with migrant children, organising their education and upbringing has been accumulated in the United States, as this country is traditionally considered a country of migrants. It has been established that the problems of migrant children are largely solved in the United States in the context of multicultural education, which provides equal educational opportunities not only for people of different ethnic backgrounds, but also focuses on racial, sexual (sexual minorities), social, religious groups, as well as people with special needs. The author analyses the peculiarities of training a multicultural teacher in the USA, as well as the main characteristics of a modern specialist who lives and works in a multicultural society: understanding the need for coexistence of different cultures as the basis for preserving life on the planet; a holistic view of the multicultural picture of the world, acceptance of different cultures as equal; desire to learn about different cultures, to identify their originality; manifestation of goodwill and tact in relations with representatives of different cultures; ability to interact in a multicultural environment. Key words: migrant children, education and upbringing, psychological and pedagogical support, cross-cultural competence, interethnic tolerance, risk group, pedagogical process, pedagogical staff training, multicultural education, multicultural space, multicultural teacher, multicultural region, bilingual education, student-centered approach, technology
