The object of the study is migration policy as a purposeful activity of the state to regulate migration processes. The purpose of the dissertation research is a comprehensive study of theoretical and practical problems of the state migration policy based on the analysis of international legal acts, national legislation, and the practice of its implementation in Ukraine in the context of ensuring national security in the political dimension. The multifacetedness of the subject requires the use of a multidisciplinary approach, which allows you to look at the object of the dissertation research from the standpoint of various sciences (history, political science, law, sociology, international relations). The application of political analysis allows: to consider the migration policy in a wider political context, clarify the role of various political actors in the formation and implementation of the migration strategy; to understand migration processes through the prism of political relations, the role of state institutions, political decision-making and conflicts of interest between different policy-making subjects. The use of a systemic approach made it possible to: study migration policy as a whole set of elements in a set of relationships and connections between them; analyze not only individual aspects of such policy but also their interaction and impact on the entire political system, which means consideration of migration policy as a component (subsystem) of a larger system where various factors and aspects interact, such as: social context, security dimension, economic, legal, geopolitical aspects). In order to achieve the goal set in the dissertation and to solve scientific problems, a complex of general scientific and special scientific methods was used, namely: historical and legal, content analysis, event analysis, SWOT analysis, comparative, behavioral, statistical, a complex of political science methods (case -study, cross-national comparisons, cross-regional comparisons, statistical and descriptive studies, cross-temporal comparisons), integrated application of universal (general) research methods (analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, induction, deduction). The conclusions obtained in the course of the research arouse interest in both scientific and theoretical aspects, as well as in practical aspects, the possibility of their use in the scientific and research field, the educational process, and law-making. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is determined by the fact that, for the first time in domestic political science, a special comprehensive study of the state migration policy was carried out in the context of ensuring national security and European integration of Ukraine, and a number of new theoretical conclusions and generalizations were formulated. For the first time: approaches to state migration policy developed by Ukrainian and foreign scientists in the context of national security are systematized; along with the legal one, the political component in the development and adoption of normative legal acts for the regulation of migration processes is singled out.
