Essay

Relevance of research. The new generation of vocalists of the 21st century is called to qualitatively convey to the target audience the spiritual and aesthetic values laid down by them in the process of concert and stage performance of folk songs. The specified type of activity of vocalists is carried out not only thanks to the creative implementation of the formed performance skills and abilities, but also developed concert and stage artistry, which enhances the transmission of information to listeners/spectators through verbal and non-verbal means of communication. The analysis of scientific and methodological literature on the theory and history of musical performance, as well as the study of the concert and stage experience of interpreting folk songs (in particular, Chinese folk songs) made it possible to identify the contradiction between the desire of artists to use effective means of strengthening the transmission of the necessary information to the target audience, taking into account multi-subject dialogic interaction with the plot of literary texts of vocal works and the sound palette of their melodic-intonational lines and their lack of a properly formed methodological toolkit to achieve the set goal. The dissertation describes the results of the analysis of the state of the researched problem in the theory and methodology of musical performance, and it is clarified that the concert and stage artistry of vocalists is a phenomenon of art history, because it is this branch of science that makes it possible to use the tools for studying its essence thanks to an in-depth understanding of the characteristic features of the individual physiology of their vocal apparatus, which is reflected in the timbral-aesthetic coloring of the sound, as well as the mechanisms of vocalists' reflection both during the imaginary projection of artistic images of Chinese folk songs and during the process of reincarnation in them during their concert and stage presentation. Awareness of the individual manner of sound creation, taking into account the logic of building the melodic and intonation lines of Chinese folk songs, as well as the specifics of the development of the musical and performing culture of vocalists as a component of their artistry, is possible only from the standpoint of art history.
