Boryn O. Children’s vocal performance in the context of popular musical culture of Ukraine (end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st centuries).

The purpose of the study is the scientific and theoretical justification and comprehensive analysis of children’s vocal performance in the context of the popular musical culture of Ukraine at the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century.Research methods allow to analyze the problems of children’s vocal performance in their multifaceted nature and constitute a complex of different scientific approaches: cultural, complex, personalistic, comparative, analytical, functional, systemic. Also, as part of the system approach, the methods of analysis and synthesis, objective observation, content analysis, systematization of theoretical data and interviews were applied. The theoretical method was used to clarify the terminological apparatus of the dissertation, and the method of theoretical generalization was used to summarize the results.Scientific novelty of the obtained results. The research is the first experience of a comprehensive examination of children’s vocal performance in the context of the popular musical culture of Ukraine. For the first time in the work: a comprehensive study of children’s vocal performance in the context of the popular musical culture of Ukraine was carried out; the meaning of the concepts "pop music", "popular music" and "mass music" has been clarified; on the basis of the analysis of the source base of the research, the author’s definition of the concept of "vocal performance of children" was formed; the factors of the formation of children’s vocal performance in pop art are characterized, as well as the physiological and psychological features of children’s vocal performance; the structure of educational institutions of children’s vocal performance in Ukraine in the 21st century was analyzed; the role of personnel management in the development of children’s vocal performance is outlined; the peculiarities of children’s participation in vocal festivals, contests and talent shows in the context of popular music culture were investigated.Practical significance of the research. The materials and results of the research can be applied in the further study of various aspects of children’s vocal performance and become the basis of new scientific research in the field of art history. The results of the research can serve as a component of methodical manuals and textbooks on vocal performance and music pedagogy, lecture material for students of higher education institutions, specialty 025 Musical art. The dissertation can be useful for teachers-musicians who work with children.
