The dissertation is a comprehensive study of the theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of the psychological determinants of professional stress of retail entrepreneurs. The research assumes that in the current special conditions of trading entrepreneurs’ resistance to stress depends on their psychological determinants at the individual-psychological, motivational, communicative, adaptive, and regulatory levels. The definition of their features and the professional analysis of the conditions of the respondentsє activity provides grounds for developing a conceptual model, conducting an empirical study, and forming a program for overcoming professional stress in the respondents. In order to carry out the empirical part of the work, we have presented a conceptual model of the study of psychological determinants of professional stress among retail entrepreneurs. It includes 3 stages of research: theoretical, empirical, and final; research methods: theoretical, statistical, empirical (psychodiagnostic tools, and professional methods). This provides an organizational and methodological basis for determining the characteristics of the determinants of professional stress, developing a professionogram and psychogram and a program for overcoming professional stress. With the help of a complex of informative methods, in 2019-2022, an empirical study was conducted on the psychological determinants of professional stress among 130 trading entrepreneurs. The formation of empirical research groups is based on a certain level of their professional stress. One group included 58 workers who had no or had insignificant manifestations of stress, and we called this group as a group with compensated stress. The other group included 72 respondents with significant uncompensated signs of stress, which was called the group with severe stress. Psychological diagnosis of the determinants of professional stress of the examinees was carried out according to a complex of direct and indirect indicators of the specified methods. Direct indicators are aimed at measuring the level of professional stress of respondents, and indirect indicators focus on the peculiarities of its determinants in relation to the individual-psychological, motivational, communicative, regulatory, and an adaptive mobility component. Based on the results of the correlation and factor analysis, five factors were defined, which we consider as psychological determinants of professional stress of the respondents. We called them: F1 – individual-psychological, measured by the variables of the “Cattell’s 16 factors personality test”; F2 – motivational (according to the scales of the “Motives of Entrepreneurship” method), F3 – adaptive mobility (according to the indicators of the “Adaptive Mobility” method); F4 – communicative (according to the characteristics of the variable methods: “Prevailing type of attitude towards people T. Leary”, “Communicative and organizational abilities”, “Level of personality conflict”) and F5 – regulatory (according to the indicators of the methods “Volitional self-regulation” and “Overcoming stress”). According to the results of theoretical analysis of scientific sources, organizational and methodological basis, results of empirical research, analysis of conditions and features of professional activity, a professional and psychogram of retail entrepreneurs was developed. Its content is laid out in the following sections: introduction; Chapter 1 – General information about business activity; Chapter 2 – Dominant activities and main tasks of retail entrepreneurs; Chapter 3 – Socio-psychological factors of activity of retail entrepreneurs; Chapter 4 – Psychogram. On the basis of the developed professionogram and psychogram, as well as the results of empirical research, a program for overcoming professional stress among trade entrepreneurs has been developed. The results of the empirical study of professional stress gave grounds to determine its determinants, define factors and components, develop a professionogram and a psychogram of the activities of retail entrepreneurs, and form a program for overcoming professional stress of the respondents, which is a significant scientific and practical contribution to the system of psychological assistance of individuals in stressful conditions.
