Essay

The dissertation focuses on study of the issue of assessment testing for the competency in the Ukrainian language of Lyceum students. The relevance of the problem is determined by the competence orientation of modern school education and the need to develop an effective methodology for assessing the competence in the Ukrainian language in Lyceum students. Among the priority tasks in the process of reforming the education branch in Ukraine is to design a new system for evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes on a competence-based basis. Apparently, there is a need to elaborate a new type of test tasks, notably, modern, credible and competence-based, since they are fundamental for the upgraded methodology for assessing the competence in the Ukrainian language in Lyceum students. An alternative option for its implementation is a comprehensive competence test, which considers the advancement in subject (branch) and key competencies, as well as actualizing cross-curricular skills of students.
