Essay

The thesis presents the comprehensive comparative analysis of the theoretical foundations and practical experience in general cultural training of future music teachers (on the example of bachelors) in higher education institutions of the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine in order to determine perspective directions for the mutual use of pedagogically valuable ideas and generalized experience in the specified training in modern conditions of development of Chinese and Ukrainian higher musical-pedagogical education. The relevance of the study is caused by such main factors as processes of humanization of the educational process and the role of art in solving these tasks; the significance of general cultural training of future music teachers for ensuring highquality education of the younger generation, satisfaction of their spiritual and cognitive, social and cultural needs as well as self-actualization and self-realization needs; pedagogical expediency of comparative studies of the ways of solving the specified problem in the system of education of different countries, in particular the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine. Based on the analysis of a wide range of scientific sources, the main ways of scientific understanding of the raised problem in Chinese and Ukrainian psychological and pedagogical literature have been highlighted; the origins of the ideas of general cultural training of future music teachers in Chinese and Ukrainian pedagogical thought have been revealed; the essence of the main concepts related to the research problem (“personality of music teacher”, “general culture of future music teachers”, “general cultural training of future music teachers” and its structure) has been analyzed and clarified. The specific features of the system of higher musical and pedagogical education in the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine have been characterized. Its content has been summarized as well as both common and specific features of it have been revealed. They are: a significant difference in the total number of training hours, nature and terms of practice; the specific role of the disciplines of ideological and political orientation and special attention to the study of a foreign language (as a rule, English) in Chinese institutions; a wider range of free-choice subjects in Ukrainian universities. The implementation of the comparative analysis of the forms and methods of general cultural training of future teachers in higher education institutions of the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine in the process of classroom and out-ofclassroom work has made it possible to clarify both their common and distinctive features, namely: the emphasis on conducting lectures, the use of a set of integrated methodics of teaching professional disciplines, the predominant use of national platforms and resources for distance learning, the obligation to involve students in optional classes and extracurricular work in Chinese institutions. Meanwhile, the use of a wide range of methods of teaching professional disciplines in Ukrainian universities has been noted. The directions of mutual use of the generalized experience in general cultural training of future teachers in higher education institutions in the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine have been determined. They are: – for universities of the People’s Republic of China, based on the experience of Ukraine, the following can be recommended: the expansion of the list of general education and professional subjects (“Human health and safety”, “Native language”, “School ethnography”, “Art in general secondary education institutions” etc.), educational forms (individual, practical-seminar) and methods of education (the method of exchanging roles or functions, the role mask method, the method of 8 publicizing contradictions, the method of immersion in an epoch); involvement of students in guest lectures; – for Ukrainian higher education institutions, the following elements of the Chinese experience can be involved: raising the status of teachers, in general, and the status of music teachers, in particular; ensuring a multicultural approach to the training of future music teachers using the resource of free-choice subjects, involving several teachers in teaching educational courses (“joint teaching”, “teaching assistant”), diversifying the types and content of practices, primarily of a socio-cultural orientation; development of national platforms and resources for distance learning; – for the higher education institutions of the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine, it is expedient to intensify interaction and implementation of joint programs and projects focused on the academic mobility of participants in the educational process, holding scientific and practical conferences, seminars, webinars, master classes, introducing Chinese language courses for Ukrainians and Ukrainian language courses for Chinese students.
