Essay

Dissertation research is devoted to the formation of motivational and value priorities of mature age persons for health-enhancing and recreational motor activity. The aim of the study was to reveal the gender characteristics of motivational and value priorities of mature age people for health-enhancing and recreational motor activity in order to determine organizational and methodological conditions of their formation during different decades of their life. Objectives of the study included the following: 1. To study and analyze domestic and foreign experience concerning formation of motivation and value orientations of mature age persons towards health-enhancing recreational motor activity, taking into account their gender characteristics. 2. To study peculiarities of motives, interests, value orientations of mature age men and women for engaging in various types of motor activity, their psychological types, the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, and their quality of life. 3. To identify limiting and stimulating factors affecting the formation of positive motivation of mature age men and women for health-enhancing and recreational motor activity. 4. To develop technology and determine organizational and methodical conditions that contribute to engagement of mature age persons in systematic motor activity classes. The object of the study is motivational and value priorities of mature age persons for health-enhancing and recreational motor activity. The subject of the study is a gender approach to formation of motivational and value priorities of mature age persons for engagement in health-enhancing and recreational motor activity. Scientific novelty of the obtained results presupposes the following: • for the first time, we have determined organizational and methodical conditions for formation of motivation for systematic physical training and recreational motor activity, taking into account gender characteristics of men and women of mature age, which is meant to increase their motor activity to the appropriate level; it presupposes implementation of appropriate pedagogical control by fitness instructors, as well as consideration of their motivation for engagement in health-enhancing and recreational motor activity during different decades of their life, the basis of which are informational, motivational and diagnostic components; • for the first time, we have established the relationship between psychological gender, sphere of needs and motives as well as motor activity of mature age persons and their physical fitness; • for the first time, we have clarified limiting and stimulating factors of forming motivation for self-improvement by means of physical education of mature age men and women in different age decades depending on particular gender characteristics; • for the first time we have systematized men and women’s motivation and attitude to various types of motor activity and provided recommendations for their use; • we have added data on motivational and value priorities of adults in choosing the type of motor activity depending on their gender characteristics.
