During the dissertation work, 120 patients (120 women) of postmenopausal age with the atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process or part of the lower jaw were examined and given special treatment. For comparative analysis, all patients were divided into three groups. Group I included 40 patients, women in the postmenopausal period with atrophy of the cellular process with bone tissue density indices within the normal range, who were performed the surgical treatment using the osteoplastic material “Cerabone” and the resorbable barrier membrane “Jason”. Group II consisted of 40 patients, women in the postmenopausal period, with atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process or the part of the lower jaw and osteopenia, with the reduced bone density, who were treated using the method developed by us, namely with decortication in the area of the edge of the cellular process of the upper jaw or part of the lower jaw, taking the ossein-hydroxyapatite complex “Osteogenon” orally, 1 tablet of 830 mg 2 times a day for 30 days before the surgical intervention, using the osteoplastic material “Cerabone” and the resorbable barrier membrane “Jason”. Scientific novelty of the results obtained. There was added some new information to the data already available on the condition of the cellular process of the upper jaw and part of the bone tissue in postmenopausal patients. A new method of surgical treatment of atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process and part of the lower jaw in postmenopausal women using ossein-hydroxyapatite complex, osteoplastic material “Cerabone” and resorbable barrier membrane “Jason” and the performance of the bone tissue decortication is offered. The effectiveness of the surgical treatment of atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process and the part of the lower jaw in postmenopausal patients with decortication in the area of the edge of the cellular process of the upper jaw or part of the lower jaw, using ossein-hydroxyapatite complex, osteoplastic material “Cerabone” and resorbable barrier membrane “Jason” in combination with osteoplastic material and a barrier membrane, was evaluated. Based on the dynamics of biochemical indices, bone density indices and X-ray indices, the scheme of the most effective correction of calcium-phosphorus metabolism in postmenopausal patients with atrophy of the cellular process of the upper jaw and part of the lower jaw, was determined. The practical significance of the results obtained, expanded the knowledge about the course of atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process and the part of the lower jaw in postmenopausal women, which is important for the surgical treatment improvement. Due to the comprehensive research, an algorithm for the safe and effective use of osteoplastic material and a resorbable barrier membrane together with an ossein-hydroxyapatite complex for postmenopausal women with osteopenia and reduced bone density of the jaws, was developed and implemented. The use of the ossein-hydroxyapatite complex has led to the activation of the work of osteoblasts and a decrease in the work of osteoclasts, improving the process of bone tissue remodeling. The use of this algorithm in clinical practice will increase the effectiveness of surgical treatment of bone tissue atrophy of the jaws. On the basis of laboratory data, recommendations for the use of the ossein-hydroxyapatite complex as an auxiliary medicine in the treatment of atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process or part of the lower jaw in postmenopausal women with osteopenia and reduced bone density, have been confirmed. The results of an X-ray examination, using an orthopantomogram and a cone-beam computed tomography, can be used to study the condition of the cellular process of the upper jaw or part of the lower jaw and the peculiarities of the atrophy course. In particular, the use of these methods helps to choose a method of surgical treatment to increase the efficiency and success in the postoperative period. The expediency of determining the density of the jaw bone tissue in order to predict further treatment of atrophy of the upper jaw cellular process or part of the lower jaw in postmenopausal women, has been scientifically substantiated. It was also determined that the use of the ossein-hydroxyapatite complex improves the bone density of the jaws.
