The dissertation is devoted to a comprehensive study of the peculiarities of the representation of the phenomenon of war in Ukrainian war documentaries. The necessity of researching military documentaries, which represents the prerequisites for the development of the military conflict in the East recorded by the authors, the course of events, the testimony of the direct participants, is due to the need for a systematic analysis of the ways and forms of actualization of the war experience gained by Ukrainians, the simulated author’s ideas about the war as a modern phenomenon, its place in the newest Ukrainian stories. Relevance of the research topic. The problem of representing the tragic modern experience of Ukraine, namely the military actions in the East of Ukraine since 2014, which took on a new format on February 24, 2022 - expanded to a full-scale war, requires separate scientific attention, detailed study and understanding. After all, the military operations in Donbas received various definitions ("confrontation", "conflict", "civil war", "civil conflict", ATO, OOS, "hybrid war", etc.) and were presented as a phenomenal experience that was expressed and recorded by its direct participants and observers as an experience of war, penetrating the modern information space. War is a phenomenon that requires purposeful evaluation and understanding, because it profoundly and significantly changes our reality in physical, social, political, and psychological dimensions, rebuilding the information space and cognitive reality. War speaks, articulates itself in the ideas of those for whom mass information and communication activity is a professional duty (journalists, non-combatants) and those who need to share their empire sonal knowledge, having reflected it (participants of hostilities, combatants). The object of the research is documentary collections about military actions in the East of Ukraine and their place in the Ukrainian information space. The subject of the research is methods of organization and representation of material about military operations in the East of Ukraine in documentary works representing the author's vision of the phenomenon of war. The purpose of the work is to form a comprehensive idea of the ways of representing the experience of the war in the East of Ukraine in modern Ukrainian war documentaries, and, taking into account the status of the author of the work as a non-combatant (professional communicator-journalist), combatant (participant in hostilities), to identify the author the position of communication and non-strategies that are used to understand the phenomenon of war and build a socio-cultural image of modern Ukrainian military history. Scientific attention is driven by a request from the Ukrainian and world community - the need for detailed, voluminous information about the events in the East of Ukraine, and war documentaries satisfy this request. The author considered and clarified the vision of the specifics of the modern information space and ways of representing the war in it from the positions of different types of communicators. It was determined that the work of the mass media is characterized by the formation of an "agenda", the construction of reality (perceptions of events), the framing of information, the use of a publicity model to attract the attention of the audience, and the theatricalization of events. The results of scientific observations showed that the events in the East of Ukraine were interpreted by mass media in different ways (depending on the information policy of the media and communication strategy), so the audience was presented with a different picture of the unfolding of events, and therefore there is no comprehensive, detailed view of them. It is also noted that the conditions and rules dictated by modernity - fragmentation, experiments with narrative forms (deconstruction of reality) - directly affect the way events are represented, which makes it difficult for authors to convey information about events with documentary accuracy. The dissertation defines and improves approaches to understanding the ways of organizing material for the construction of military history. The author of the study emphasized that the collections of war documentaries are characterized by a narrative presentation of events, because the narrative ensures the organization of military experience in the form of a chronologically oriented gradual presentation of the history of the war with an emphasis on the culminating moments, as well as the representation of the heroes participating in the events, which expands the general public's perception of the unfolding of the military conflict in Donbass. Attention is paid to the views of researchers on the status of communicators of a documentary work, which directly depends on the...
