Varyvoda Y. Social rehabilitation of children and young people with special educational needs through museum pedagogy

The object of the study is the social rehabilitation of children and youth with special educational needs. The purpose of the study is to scientifically substantiate, develop and experimentally test the model of social rehabilitation of people with special educational needs through museum pedagogy as an innovative social service. Research methods: theoretical – analysis of scientific literature to determine the main principles of the study, namely the peculiarities of interdisciplinary relations of social rehabilitation through museum pedagogy, the peculiarities of providing social rehabilitation through museum pedagogy to children and youth with disabilities in different nosologies; correlation analysis of the regulatory framework for the provision of social services and the functioning of museums in Ukraine; study of the experience of foreign countries in conducting socio-cultural activities with children and youth with disabilities. Theoretical and practical results of the research, their novelty. For the first time, the model of social rehabilitation of children and youth with special educational needs by means of museum pedagogy as an innovative social service was theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested. The idea of social rehabilitation by means of museum pedagogy in the context of socio-cultural adaptation of persons with visual and hearing impairments, socio-psychological rehabilitation of persons with musculoskeletal disorders and social integration of persons with intellectual disabilities, mental retardation and emotional and volitional disorders has been deepened and expanded. The analysis of legal and regulatory support (legislative acts of Ukraine, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations) on social rehabilitation, education, health care, culture, and non-formal education was further developed. This is the legal basis for the implementation of the service of social rehabilitation of children and young people with special educational needs through museum pedagogy. This research can be used to provide social rehabilitation services (according to the Classification of Social Services of Ukraine (Order of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine No. 429 of 23.06.2020), to improve the efficiency of museum professionals, and to improve the quality of teachers’ training to work with students and their parents in inclusive education.
