The relevance of the topic of the work is due to the lack of a holistic and systematic study of the language of Fedir Potushnyak’s works, as well as the need for a detailed analysis of the language personality in Ukrainian linguistics. At the same time, the fact that Fedir Potushnyak’s work spans the first half of the 20th century, which in one way or another influenced the artist’s consciousness, is of research interest. After all, during this difficult and controversial period in the history of the Ukrainian language in Transcarpathia, through the prism of a complex historical context, a transition from Russophilism to high Ukrainianism took place.That is why it is important to analyze the historical context, aswell as the foundations that became the basis of the formation of the worldview and theformation of the language personality of Fedir Potushnyak. The study of the language of fiction by researching the language personality of thoseUkrainian writers, whose language creativity has not yet been the subject of specialscientific consideration, is an urgent problem of Ukrainian linguistics. Consideration of the language personality of Fedir Potushnyak leads to highlightingthe problem of the connection between the worldview orientation and the author’s languagecreation, which occurs in the modeling of a special language world, the activation oflanguage and the creation of individual and stylistic means of speech expression on thisbasis. From this point of view, the work of Fedir Potushnyak has not yet been the subject of a special study. The theoretical basis of the research was the works of leading Ukrainian and foreignscientists, which highlight the complex issues of language personality; the relationshipbetween language and culture;reconstruction of language consciousness; the language worldmodel and poetic language creation; language andliterary process of the 20th century; sound techniques in poetic language; lexical analysis ofartistic text; the functioning and features of theuse of expressive means of artistic language; symbolism and various aspects of its interpretation.
In order to implement the tasks set and fulfill the defined goal of the dissertation, a set of research methods and techniques was applied. The leading role belongs to the general philological method of interpreting the semantics and functions of language units depending on the meaning of the linguistic-aesthetic whole, which acquires a new conceptual content in the work due to the influence of the research paradigm. In the theoretical part of the dissertation, the methods of scientific analysis, synthesis, and generalization were uzed. Empirical research of the language material required the use of systematic-descriptive and comparative methods. The study used the general method of linguistic observation and description of linguistic phenomena, the method of lexical-semantic analysis of linguistic units, quantitative analysis, and the method of identifying verbal-figurative dominants. The book vocabulary, dialectisms, idioms, epithets, metaphors, comparisons, and symbols. The specificity of the analyzed linguistic phenomena led to the use of a comprehensive methodology to reveal the essence of all processes in the dynamics of the development and formation of the writer’s language personality.
The research material is the poetic works of Fedir Potushnyak, written by the author at different times of his creative path.
The scientific novelty of the dissertation is determined by the fact that it contains for the first time a comprehensive study of the language personality of Fedir Potushnyak was carried outon the basis of his worldview orientations and language creativity;linguistic interpretations of language personality in the modern scientific paradigm arespecified;features of Fedir Potushnyak’s worldview as an artist of words are revealed;significant empirical material from the writer’s artistic works was introduced intoscientific circulation;language expressive means of the works of F. Potushnyak were analyzed at differentlinguistic levels (sound organization, lexical specificity, semantics of symbols);the linguopoetic and ethnocultural aspects of the semantics of symbols in the writer’sspeech are outlined. The research carried out in the dissertation presents the general concept of Fedir Potushnyak’s poetic speech-making as an original language personality against thebackground of the writer’s confessional orientations. The role and significance of poetic speech-making by F. Potushnyak in the language and literary process of Transcarpathiawas defined. Theideas of anthropocentrism of linguistics (as applied to the author’s language creation), theeffectiveness of the interdisciplinary context of linguistic research, as well as extralingualfactors of language development, in particular language personality and poetic languagecreation, gained further development.
