Maksymets V. Artistic Models of Female Existence in the Works of Halyna Pahutiak and Can Xue

The research is devoted to the analysis of the works of Halyna Pahutіak, a representative of contemporary Ukrainian literature, and Can Xue, a contemporary Chinese writer, through the prism of the typology of artistic models of the author’s vision of a woman’s existence as a search, loss, or affirmation of her identity. The aim of the dissertation is to identify and characterize the main models of artistic representation of the problem-thematic complex of “female existence” in their works, revealing typological commonalities and differences as well as the formal-content specificity of each model. The choice of the literary figures of Halyna Pahutіak and Can Xue as objects of study is determined by the connection of the themes in their works with the complex issues of women’s prose and the dominance of the female protagonist and/or female narration; their inclination towards creating a psychoanalytic and mythopoetic type of writing; and their role in shaping the paradigm of female discourse in each of the national literatures.
