Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the factors of the formation of the Korean worldview and their reflection in modern short prose of the Republic of Korea. The material of the research is Korean short prose of the second half of the XX – beginning of the XXI century from the so-called “period of the divided nation” (분단 문학) to the contemporary works. The relevance of the research is defined by the need for understanding the interaction of traditional worldviews and moral and ethical dominants with modern sociocultural changes of the second half of the XX – beginning of the XXI century in Korean short prose. The analysis of these processes allows one to reveal the influence of globalization on the transformation of Korean national identity and to demonstrate the role of literature in reflecting social changes. The scientific novelty is caused by the fact that the dissertation is the first experience at a comprehensive scientific study of the literature of the Republic of Korea of the second half of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century in Ukrainian oriental studies. The process of the formation and evolution of short prose is outlined; the ideological, thematic and stylistic features of Korean prose literature in the evolutionary process are established; representative stories and short stories by writers of the Republic of Korea are analyzed, some of them for the first time. In addition, existing studies of the spiritual and moral foundations and worldview of Koreans are developed and structured, which makes it possible to understand various manifestations of Korean culture, including literature.
