On the basis of comparative method of contemporary concepts of society's development in the modern times inquiry the following division of it was proposed: traditional modern times, innovatory modern times and plural modern times. As a result of investigation of correlation of traditions and innovations in innovation modern period society's art (avant-garde painting) there were revealed similarities and distinctions between process of rejection and / or assimilation of traditions and forming of innovations in their West European and Ukrainian versions.
