The thesis covers the names of musical instruments as a fragment of the lingual picture of the world and analyzes different spheres of functioning these units. The aim of the research lies in determining the functional specificity of the words in the mutual connection of lingual and cultural semantic components.The theoretical foundation of the research is stipulated by the discriptive contrastive, componential methods and that of conceptual analysis. The paper submitted outlines the semantic and pragmatic acpects of concept verbalizing. The findings of the thesis can be applied in the lexical semantics, lingual area studies and lexicography.
