Bondareva O. Condition of carbohydrate metabolism of patients suffering from bronchial asthma depending on the therapy variant

On the base of complex clinical and laboratory-instrumental findings of the patients with Bronchial Asthma (BA) peculiarities of carbohydrate metabolism were revealed. It is found out that the increase of severity of the course of the illness, of the stage of respiratory incompetence worsens the carbohydrate metabolism. The carbohydrate metabolism most of all is influenced by taking of system glucocorticoids (GC) and by large dosage monotherapy with beta-agonists. Taking of inhalation GC has less influence on the carbohydrate metabolism as compared with the effects of system GC. Availability in the patients suffering from BA possible risk factors of DM accelerates the development of disturbances of the carbohydrate metabolism. It is advisable to test the patients suffering from BA test on toler-ance to glucose and determination of the level of glucolized hemoglobin in order to evaluate the state of the carbohydrate metabolism and its compensation.
