The dissertation contains a research work on architectural ornamentations of the Eastern Carpathian churches and bell-towers, where plastic artistry was widely used as a means of aesthetical expressiveness of wooden monumental constructions. General artistic features of profiled and carved designs are being considered historically in the development of decorations. Typological structure of ornamentation, elaborated after the techniques of artistic wood processing is being presented in connection with the monuments of XVIIth to early XXth cc. Some new light is being thrown upon the influences of traditional folk decoration in constructional details of cult buildings transferred to conteporary wooden temple erection.
