The dissertation is devoted to the study of the Delta-Notch signaling role in Drosophila development and also to investigate the key component, Delta, in wing vein formation and in general evolutionary transformations of the wing as a particular type of insect legs. Neurogenic gene Delta alleles interact with the mutations causing the wing veins reduction: Beadex, gap, crossveinless, Cap12 and broken. Delta alleles also interact with the mutations causing the wing veins material excess: Branched and truckee. Drosophila virilis dominant sex-linked semilethal mutation, Odd22, also interacts with Delta mutations. Phenotypic interactions of the all mutations studied with the Delta alleles suggest their possible involvement in Notch signaling pathway
