Research subjects: ornamental sunflower. Research objectives: The study of genetical accessions with new mutations for develop new ornamental sunflower hybrids. Methods: genetic analysis. Theoretical and practical results: The complex rating of the majority of submitted in the world market ornamental varieties was executed for the first time.The inheritance of main ornamental characters of sunflower was study. Novelty of introduced: Various yellow basic inflorescence colorations are determined by not less than 8 different genes. Total number of alleles regulating anthocyan distribution along ray florets are not less than 21. The new gene of distal anthocyan localization was discovered. The phenomenon of sunflower double-flowering comprises two independent components - shape and relative length of disk florets. Eight new morphological mutants of the ray florets shape are described. The classification of sunflower branching types was modernized. The genetic collection of sunflower morphological mu tants, comprising more than 220 accessions was created. Implementation degree: The first Ukrainian hybrids of ornamental sunflower Lunnyi, Juliana, Karmen, Nadezhda were developed. Effectiveness: The technique of ornamental sunflower breeding with use "Breeding formula of the pigmentation of inflorescence description" was developed.
