It is proposed to introduce a new scientific category and a proper field of research in social-economic and political geography - "trans-border geography". The border and trans-border levels of international and regional cooperation are studied. Socio-economic and geographical problems in foreign bordering areas of Suchava and Botoshan Povits in Romania are analysed (problems of ethnic minorities, territorial organization of economy, trans-border cooperation etc.).
