Essay

The activity of RSDRP (Mensheviks) in Ukraine in 1917-1920. Complex studying of the history of RSDRP in Ukraine in the period of Revolution and Civil war of 1917-1920. 1) It has been established that the policy of RSDRP in Ukraine first of all was determined by the tasks of the whole Russia Revolution in their social-democratic variant with further partial corrections according to the circumstances of Ukrainian national-democratic revolution. 2) It has been proved that the changes in social composition of society that had occurred as a result of the First World and civil wars favored growth in political and social mass radicalism and considerably narrowed the social base of RSDRP in Ukraine. 3) The attitude of RSDRP to Ukrainian national governments has been ascertained.4) It has been proved that the policy of the leading center of Mensheviks in Ukraine was notable for greater interest in searching an agreement with Bolsheviks. This feature reflected the peculiarity of revolution processes in Ukraine and the attempts of Mensheviks to maintain political influence of the party. 5) The reasons of polarization of the extreme wings of the party have been analyzed. It has been established that the essence of the innerparty disagreements was determined by different attitudes of Menshevist fractions to Soviet Government. 6) The conclusion has been made that political isolation of RSDRP in Ukraine was the result of Mensheviks' political mistakes during the revolution and the civil war, including mistakes in national policy. A course of Ukrainian History, specialized courses and specialized seminars on the History of social-democratic movement, particularly the History of Russian Menshevism.
