Skokova N. The East Galician Zionist Federation (1928 – 1929)

The basic directions of activity of the KSO of Eastern Galicia during 1918-1929 were comprehensively analyzed, in particular the origins of the national movement of Jewish secular youth and the further transformation of Eastern Galician Zionism into an ideology were traced, the post-war situation and socio-political transformations of Galician Jewry due to the collapse of Austria-Hungary and the place of the KSO were characterized in these processes, as well as defining the features of the structural transformation of CSR and analyzing the reasons and ways of integration of the local Jewish population into the political sphere of CSR activities. The object of the research is the Zionist movement in the interwar Eastern Galicia of the 20th century, and the subject is the activities of the KSO during 1918-1929 in the political, economic, financial, cultural, educational and charitable spheres. The theoretical and methodological apparatus of the study is based on an interdisciplinary approach and the works of representatives of various humanities. In particular, the concept of the development of modern political movements by M. Duverger, the typology of Jewish communities in Europe by E. Mendelsohn, the scheme of stages of national revival by M. Groch, as well as the criteria for constructing semantic frameworks and public discourse proposed by R. Entman were used.
