Syvak V. Eucharistic Iconography in the Ukrainian Cultural and Historical Tradition of the 17th-18th centuries: Origins and Symbolism

The ways of formation of Eucharistic iconography in the cultural and historical tradition of Ukrainians of the 17th–18th centuries have been identified, in particular, the symbolism and origin of the Eucharistic iconography of the 17th–18th centuries have been investigated. in the cultural-historical tradition of the Ukrainian Church of that time, the importance of the Christian Liturgy in the historical tradition of Ukrainian religious life in the context of the mystical sacrament and ideological-visual images is highlighted, the symbolic and allegorical plots of the Eucharist in Ukrainian church works of the 17th-18th centuries are analyzed. and their pictorial and iconographic structure. The object of the dissertation is the Eucharistic iconography highlighted in the cultural-historical tradition of Ukrainians of the 17th-18th centuries. The subject of the study is the origin and development of the Eucharistic theme in Christian art and its adoption on Ukrainian territory, pictorial and artistic symbols of the Eucharist in the space of the Ukrainian church of the XVII-XVIII centuries, the evolution of the iconographic Eucharistic tradition in the contemporary Ukrainian artistic and cultural life. Based on the goal and set tasks, the dissertation considers a systematic approach to the study of the topic, which is accumulated through the prism of those phenomena and processes that most influenced the development of the problem specified for research.
