The dissertation is devoted to substantiating on the basis of a wide range of written sources and scientific literature of the peculiarities of the development of the etiquette of social events and receptions in the lands of ethnic Ukraine of the 16th–18th cent. in the historical and cultural dimension.
The study established the patterns of development of the origins of the traditions of certain groups of society in the realm of cultural creation, related to etiquette, ceremonial, and protocol in the lands of ethnic Ukraine of the early modern era. It was determined that European influences at the early stage of the formation of the secular etiquette culture of the nobility of the Ukrainian lands were most clearly manifested when most of them became part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Cultural relations with the Crimean Khanate and the Ottoman Empire were studied in the light of the beginning of the development of etiquette in the territories of modern Ukraine. Was traced the process of formation of proper Ukrainian etiquette traditions, ceremonial social events and receptions in the early modern era, which was largely formed under the influence, on the one hand, of folk culture and Cossack customs, and on the other hand, constantly transformed in view of Eastern and Western diplomatic rituals, traditions, protocol. The cultural influences of other peoples on the etiquette culture of the nobility in the Ukrainian territories of the specified chronological period were highlighted. During the early modern era, the spread of elements of French, Austro-German and Russian etiquette culture traditions was also observed within ethnic Ukraine.
The development of the etiquette culture of the nobility of the Ukrainian lands of the 16th–18th cent. was considered as a component of historical processes that had a long history and their own all-Ukrainian development features. At the same time, the compilation of national traditions of secular events and receptions was revealed against the background of the European context. In particular, the history of the culture of the population of ethnic Ukrainian lands since the time they were part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Kingdom of Poland, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Crimean Khanate, the Ottoman Empire, and until they became part of the Russian and Austrian empires. The research work provides a comprehensive scientific rationale of the development of the etiquette culture of the nobility of Ukrainian lands in the 16th–18th cent., the significance of which is based on highlighting of the specifics of the historical development and transformations of the etiquette culture of these territories.
