By means of analysis of the archives documents, historical works, memoirs, peridical press materials is described the process of formation the Air Force of Ukraine, examined the base for formation of the National Air Force. Here it is lighted the organizing structure of the aircraft and aerostatics formations, their guantitative compozition, technical equipment. Is generalized the experience of fighting using Air Force subunits on the whole stages of the national-liberation movement of the Ukrainian people 1917-1920, is determined their role in this struggle and the place of the Air Force in the general structure of the armed forces of Ukraine in research period.
