Essay

The thesis analyzes the military, political and public activity of the well-known representative of the military elite, General-Cornet of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UPR) Army, Minister for Military Affairs of the UPR and State Center of the UPR Volodymyr Salskyi in the light of social and political warfare processes in Ukraine as well as other European countries where the Ukrainians settled down in the first half of the twentieth century. Peculiarities of V. Salskyi's professional development as a military are considered, attention is focused on his involvement in revolutionary events on the territory of Ukraine in 1917–1921, namely in the manning of the Northern Front of the Russian army with the Ukrainians at the final stage of the First World War. It is noted V. Salskyi commanded the Zaporizhzhya group of the UPR army in a number of military operations to liberate the territory of Ukraine from the Bolshevik troops in the summer of 1919: Proskuriv, Zhmerynka and Kyiv. The key areas of activity as the head of the Ministry for Military Affairs of the Ukrainian People's Republic are outlined, especially in exile. V. Salskyi's journalistic practice is characterized, the intensification of which coincided with the emigrant period of his life. The General's first steps in the scientific sphere have been highlighted.
