Essay

The dissertation analyzes the military and public activities of the famous Ukrainian military, public figure, lieutenant colonel of the UNR Army, historian Vasyl Khomich Prokhoda in the first half of the twentieth century. Through the prism of military, socio-political processes in Ukraine and emigration. Emphasis is placed on the peculiarities of the formation of his outlook, in particular, it is shown that the basis of expressive national-patriotic consciousness. The main stages of military activity in the ranks of the Russian army before and in the first year of the First World War, the Ukrainian army of the Ukrainian state, the UNR Army of the Army are considered. The contribution of V. Prokhoda to the struggle for statehood and independence during the Ukrainian Revolution (1917 – 1921) was determined. The directions of social activity of V. Passages in the Czechoslovakia during the interwar period of the twentieth century are characterized. The contribution of V. Passages in the formation of social values of the student environment of the Ukrainian Academy of Economics is considered, the circle of his like-minded students and teachers, among whom are the future leaders of national-cultural organizations in emigration, are distinguished. It is noted that being in student non-governmental organizations (“Academic Community” etc.) in the interwar period of the twentieth century he made considerable efforts to protect educational, national, cultural and social rights in the Czechoslovak Republic. The organizational activity of V. Prokhoda on the formation and development of the Ukrainian Sokil movement in Czechoslovakia, the association of Sokil organizations abroad, the support of close cooperation with the headquarters – Sokil-Father in Lviv are analyzed. His contribution to the organizational work and creation of theoretical foundations of Ukrainian professional public associations in the Czechoslovakia are highlighted. It was found out that during the Second World War he worked as an engineer for the construction of highways, defense structures, factories in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Baltic States, the USSR, only sporadically maintaining relations with Ukrainian civic organizations, some. Attention is drawn to the arrest and investigation of V. Prokhoda in February–September 1945 and his subsequent exile in Tallinn, later in Leningrad, and then in the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in 1945–1954.
