It was demonstrated that development of pulmonary veins starts at the beginning of the sixth week of the prenatal period. The sources of formation of the primary pulmonary veins were vessels of vein sinus and heart wall. Connections between intrapulmonary and extrapulmonary veins is established at the seventh week of development. The most intensive growth of the pulmonary veins take place during seventh week and fourth month of prenatal period. Primary development of pulmonary veins and their sources are completing in the period from seventh to tenth month of development. Main structural components of newborn pulmonary veins are close to definitive ones, but appearing of different variations demonstrates that development in prenatal period is not completed.
