Sukhenko T. Secondary female education in Ukraine (XIX- beginning of XX).

In this thesis, a system of secondary female education in Ukraine and a policy of the Russian government in the area of female education in XIX - at the beginning of XX are studied. Among those first in Europe, the Russian government has understood advisability of female secondary education and determined the major directions in its organization. The network of female institutions created in Ukraine: boarding-schools, institutes, eparchial schools, female gymnasia and progimnasia, professional schools - has been the result of the activity by local community and private persons. In the study, the major peculiar features in educational process of female secondary institutions - practical direction of learning and educational tasks being preferable to history of philanthropy activities by private persons and establishments to educate the culture of sponsorship in modern society.
