Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the studying of salmonella fimbrial adhesins and elaboration of means for immunoprophylaxis of animal salmonellosis. Generally known microbiological, biochemical and immunological methods were used. The epizootic situation concerning bovine and swine salmonellosis in Kharkov region during the period from 1990 to 1999 was analyzed. It was established that epizootic salmonella strains isolated from different animal species are able to express mannose-sensitive and mannoseresistant fimbriae. The optimal growth conditions for the high level fimbriae production were determined. Physical, chemical, morphological and immunogenic properties of the fimbrial adhesins separated from bacterial cells were studied. The presence of Es-cherichia coli fimbriaе on the surface of epizootic salmonella strains was detected. The technology of "Antitoxic and antiadhesive serum against salmonellosis and escherichiosis in animals" was elaborated. The experimental series of the preparation was pro duced and it's effectiveness was studied in laboratory and field conditions. The normative documentation which includes the technical conditions of Ukraine (ТУУ 46.15.564-2001), recommendations for the application, instruction for the production and control of AASE serum was confirmed.
