Essay

Four scientific works are defended. The reaction of cage alcohols with trifluoroperacetic acid (TFPAA) in trifluoroacetic acid (TFAA) is studied. The two possible pathways are shown for the reaction of cage alcohols with trifluoroperacetic acid. The first pathway involves the oxygen insertion into the cage structure, the second one is the process of olefination of a cage alcohol followed by the consecutive reactions of the corresponding olefines. At the first time, the possibility of cation formation (a double oxygen insertion product) during the course of consecutive Criegee rearrangement in TFAA was shown. In all cases the consecutive oxygen insertion during the reaction of a cage alcohol with TFPAA in TFAA terminates with the insertion of the second oxygen atom and such reaction has a general character for cage compounds.
