Essay

The theoretical principles of formation of the image of an ideal teacher, the prerequisites for its origin have been defined on the basis of the analysis of philoso-phical, psychological, periodical-pedagogical litera-ture. The christian ideal of a man was put into the teacher's ideal. The essence and structure of the ideal have been substantiated. The stages, priority tendencies of the teacher's ideal, the factors which influenced the formation of teacher's ideal have been revealed. Its embodiment in the teacher's activity of the studied period has been considered. It has been determined that in Ukraine of today the revival of the teacher's ideal at the second half of the 19-th - the beginning of the 20-th century is put into effect.
