Essay

Variety of problems concerning the process of formation and functioning of the Uman Cossack Regiment as part of the Ukrainian Cossack State is studied in the dissertation. The military and political history of the Uman Regiment is represented, national and social staff of the regiment is analyzed and senior officers of the Regiment and its departments (sotnyas) are registered. On the base of researched sources the place and role of the Uman Cossack Regiment in the Ukrainian liberation movement of the above - mentioned period are shown. The position of the Uman Cossack Regiment in the political situation of the Ruin Period is determined.
