Essay

Antimutagenic properties of aqua-alcoholic extracts derived from the biomass of cultured Panax ginseng, Polyscias filicifolia, Rhodiola rosea, Ungernia victoris cells have been studied in two prokaryotic systems. In Ames test the extracts under study failed to affect the level of spontaneous mutants of S.typhimurium TA 98 and TA 100 and effectively inhibited the chemically induced mutagenesis. To reveal the antimutagenic effects of the preparations use of Escherichia coli - bacteriophage l system was proposed. In this test-system were demonstrated extracts protective activities, which by the intensity of the protective effect could be arranged in a row as follows U.victoris > P.ginseng > P.filicifolia.
