The thesis is devoted to the matters of publishing and bibliographical activities of Poltava region educational centers region in the second half of the 19th at beginning of the 20th century. The picture of a regional formation and development of ethnographical bibliography on the example of educational centers and establishments, museums, libraries, Archives Commission, Zemstvo is analysed and reproduced by the author in chronological sequence. The role and place of publishing and information-bibliographical activities of ethnographical centers within the Ukrainian culture development, national consciousness awaking, educational and cultural standards of the local population raising is defined. A great variety of ethnographical publications which are regarded as valuable sources of Poltava regional history have been discovered and characterized. Concerning the structure the thesis consists of the Introduction, three Parts, the Conclusions, the list of literature, the Supplements. In the Introduction t he actuality of the investigation subject has been motivated, scientific aim and assignments, degree of problem's elaboration have been defined, chronological framework and the regiment of investigation are drawn out, scientific - theoretical bases of the problem are exposed, the source base is presented, scientific novelty, practical and theoretical significance have been characterized, authors, personal contribution is reflected, new data about work"s approval are adduced. In the first part of the thesis's investigation "The state of scientific investigation of publishing and informational-bibliographical activities by educational centers in Poltava region" the historical premises of the origination process and formation tendencies of the educational centers of Poltava region, to which the author ascribes: the increasing amount of the book production by popularization the works of famous native personalities of the region; by publishing certain ethnographical editions by the local historian, opening publish ing houses and libraries in the region, publishing ethnographical materials in zemstvo's periodicals with the elements of bibliography. Furthermore historical and bibliographical review of generalized scientific sources, block of thesis's investigations, publications, which open the questions of the historical ethnography of Poltava region have been provided. In the thesis's second part " Historical ethnographical centers of Poltava region in the establishment of regional ethnographic bibliography in the second half of the 19th century" the process of origin and tendencies of formation of ethnographic bibliography of the Poltava region on the background of publishing activities of Poltava Provincial Zemstvo Statistical Bureau, Lubny E.N.Skarzhinskaya Museum, Poltava Museum of Natural History and Poltava Scientific Archives Commission are characterized. In the part the main forms of presenting of historical-ethnographical materials characterizing the publishing activities of Poltava region given ethnographical centers are examined. The main development stages of publishing activity of Poltava Scientific Archives Commission are traced, as the distinctive feature of its work was the formation of the first full-blooded bibliography in Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century. Bibliographical methods used by Lubny E.N.Skarzhinskaya Museum and Poltava Museum of Natural History, which contributed to proper organization of museum institutions are analyzed Publications of Poltava Provincial Zemstvo Statistical Bureau are characterized according to thematically trends. At the thesis's third part "The Publishing activity of Poltava region educational centers in the 1920-s of the 20th of ХХ century" the tendencies of formation and development in Poltava region of ethnographical bibliography at the beginning of ХХ century, the interrelation ship with Cooperative Associations, establishments, educational establishments, libraries, which provided the scientific studies of the region, publishing and library-bibliographical ac tivity have been traced. It is emphasized in the part that essential contribution to setting foundations of national bibliography in Poltava region at the beginning of the 20 th century made: Poltava Provincial Zemstvo Statistical Bureau, a network of regional school libraries, Poltava Ukrainian University, Poltava Peopleўs Education Institute, Poltava Society under the All -Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Poltava Cooperative Associations, District Art and Antiquity Preservation Committees.In the Conclusions the main scientific-theoretical results of the fulfilled investigation are stated, retrospective analysis of formation and development of publishing and bibliographical activities of Poltava region ethnographical centers in the second half of the 19th at the beginning of the 20th century is made.
