Solovianenko D. Internet-technologies of library service in Ukraine: establishment and development (1990-ies years – beginning of the XXI century)

The thesis is dedicated to conceptual bases of the library Internet-service (LIS) functioning. It is proposed a complete technological cycle for the LIS. The proposed cycle is in agree with the standard ISO 13407:1999 “Human-centred design processes for interactive systems” and meets special requirements to library service application. The necessary prerequisites for the developing of the Internet by Ukrainian libraries were examined. The array of statistical data for 1995-2007 on the introduction of Internet-technologies in Ukrainian libraries was harvested and presented; factors of the connection libraries to Internet, e-mail and World Wide Web technology usage were given. Dynamics of the Ukrainian libraries connections to the Internet network and creating they own web-resources (web-sites and web-pages) was analyzed. Content-analysis of the Ukrainian libraries web-sites was made, languages and capacity factors as far as factors of the various online library service forms providing were presented. Library web-projects creating problems were analyzed, recommendation on the decisions of these problems were given.
