Okaryns'kyj V. Ukrainian Scout Movement (1911-1944)

The dissertation covers the complex scene of the origin, development and activities of Ukrainian scout troops in youth movement and public life. It presents the detailed analysis of the grounds, reasons and appearance causes of the Ukrainian Scouting as educated and world-view movement. The correlation between foreign and national components of Ukrainian Scout Movement is elucidated. Grounds on the detail reconstruction of organisation, management, forms and methods of activities, the thesis investigates the chief trends and character of evolution of the Ukrainian Scout Movement. Organisations of Ukrainian Scouting at Western Ukraine in the period of underground "Plast" in 30's during polish occupation are researched. Participation of Ukrainian Scouting in different displays of civic life of Ukrainian society in this period is investigated.
