Essay

The present thesis is devoted to the investigation of the temples' and monasteries' role in the spiritual life of the Greek population. The rebirth of the Greek ethnic group in the Crimea is traced on a basis of the archive sources. The role of the Greek cultural influences on the advancement of the peninsula reclamation policy is shown in the history of the Crimea. In this work are examined the main Greek communities and Greek parishes in the Crimea (the end of the 18th - the beginning of the 20th cent.), the conservation of the national peculiarities of the Greek religious rituals, the activity of the benevolent organizations and educational institutions as the factor of the Greek national identity conservation are analyzed. The place of the religious institutions in the spiritual life of the Greek minority in the Crimea during the revolutions 1917 and the policy so-called "korenizatsia" is determined. It is shown the liquidation of the Greek parishes and the Greek temples which took place in the 30 th years of the 20th cent. had the result - the acceleration of the Greek population assimilation in the region by others ethnic groups of the Soviet Crimea.
