Khojnats'ka L. Restoration of the machine-building branch of Ukraine and its social consequences (1943-1950).

The thesis is devoted to the problem of restoring a leading branch of the Ukrainian industry, namely the machine-building branch, during the Great Patriotic War and in the early post-war years. Matters of material, technical, financial, and personnel support to the restoration process are dealt with. The professional training, labour activities, socio-economic situation of producers are studied. The author draws attention to incredible difficulties caused by exterme war situation and devastaion. The conceptual principles of restoring both the machine-building branch and other branches of the industry are considered. It is emphasised that lack, as a matter of fact, of a clear-cut conception of a restoration process in the war years created additional difficulties and resulted in the over-exependiture of material and labour resources.
