In this dissertation, the formation, development and embodiment of historical views of M. Maksimovich, who stood at the sources of ukrainian historical science is researched in complex through his contribution to the national science. Based on the analysis of historico-philological works of the scientist, the historiosophic principles of his creative work have been determined and the whole vision of the history of the Ukraine from ancient times till the end of the XVIII th century by M. Maksimovich has been discovered.
